for your sparkling personality.
What the fuck is wrong with this guy?
Carlton had been embarrassed a few times in his life. He wouldn t say that he was used
to it, but it wasn t exactly an unusual experience. The current situation, however, was in a
league of its own. Michael was all puffed up with his own importance and that was bad
enough. It brought back a lot of bad memories and made him realise what an arrogant little
prick Michael really was. What had he ever seen in him?
He still wasn t sure what Michael wanted. The idiot seemed cordial enough for the time
being, but the anger it must have taken to organise this kidnapping was almost certainly not
gone. While there were no guns in evidence, Carlton was pretty sure at least the pirate was
carrying, if not Michael as well. Provoking him was not a good idea.
On the other hand, just standing here waiting for the next insult wouldn t get them
anywhere useful, either.
What do you want me to say? Maybe trying to find out more about why Michael was
doing this would help him come up with a way out of here.
An apology would be nice. Michael s whole demeanour changed from laid-back
arrogance to eyes-narrowed anger within seconds. I know now that I was wrong to bring
that other guy into our bed, and I have apologised for it. Several times. But you never
listened and refused to take me back. I think it s about time you apologised for making life so
difficult for me.
Okay, I m sorry I caused you pain. He wasn t, not really. Michael had hurt him by
being unfaithful like that. On top of that, he d been a horrible brat about it afterwards and his
attempts to reconcile had been truly transparent.

I don t believe you. Michael furrowed his brows. If you were sorry, you would have
accepted my apology and we d still be together today. Instead you ignored me and took up
with the next best convenient body that looked like it could warm your bed.
What the fuck? Was he talking about Troy? There hadn t been anyone between the two,
so he must be. Michael must be even angrier than he d thought. The Michael he d known
was normally quite observant and wouldn t make such an idiotic statement if he had his wits
about him.
That just isn t good enough. Michael fisted his hands.
Will you tell me what you want, then? He wasn t sure it was something he was
willing to do, but he had to know what Michael was planning.
I want you to feel the pain I felt. To go through the rejection and humiliation of being
dumped for one little mistake. To know what it s like to want someone and for that person to
ignore everything you do. Michael s face was red with anger.
Carlton had a hard time to keep his jaw from dropping. Troy s fingers holding on to his
gave him some strength, but it wasn t easy to remain silent. Michael was being such an
egotistical drama queen, it would have been funny if the situation weren t so serious.
Michael took a deep breath and, thankfully, a step back. His closeness had begun to
grate on Carlton s nerves, but he hadn t been willing to give the little prick a single inch. It
would have only made him seem even weaker in the idiot s eyes, if that was even possible.
According to what Michael had said earlier, he was already below contempt.
I really should just leave you here to rot. It would give you time to think about what
you ve done and maybe you d to come to your senses. Michael s fleeting grin was pure evil.
Carlton didn t even want to think about what that would mean. They couldn t count on
being rescued, not with their rescuers facing an area as big as the Caribbean and lacking any
clues as to their whereabouts.
But somehow, I don t think that would be very productive. While it might make me
feel better, there are better ways of making you suffer and giving me some sort of
compensation for what I ve been through. Michael s widening grin wasn t evil as much as
gleeful. You have more money than you know what to do with, and I have need of more
financial security than I currently command.
Well, that was no surprise. Michael had never worked more than absolutely necessary
and finding someone to finance his lifestyle had always been high on his list.

But I don t think you re quite ready to accept my offer. Michael took another step
back, making ready to return to the ship.
Offer? He had a hard time not shouting. You re calling the attempt to blackmail me
into paying you who knows how much money an offer?
Of course. Michael nodded and brushed an imaginary piece of lint from his suit
jacket. I think I m being very generous to even consider letting you off the hook like that.
Troy growled. His lover had been remarkably quiet until now, but he was clearly about
to lose his patience. He could only hope that Troy could hold it together long enough for
Michael to have left before the explosion. He was angry enough already adding to that
wouldn t be constructive.
Okay. He gritted his teeth to keep from saying more. His own anger was quickly
rising and fast approaching the point of no return.
Good. I m glad you agree. Michael turned around and stepped back into the boat,
which was still being held by the pirate. I ll call back on you in a few days time. That
should be long enough for you to consider what we ve talked about and hopefully come to a
more constructive attitude.
And with that, Michael and the pirate were off.
He wanted to make sure he was truly out of earshot, so Carlton bit his tongue for a
while longer. He d need to let his own anger out at some point, but they had to be careful.
The situation was precarious enough as it was, and Michael held all the trump cards. They
couldn t afford to alienate him any more than he already was. There was a limit to the [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
